Wareham High School sent out an email release to students and faculty today that the first COVID-19 case within the school has been reported.
The statement sent out reports that a Wareham High School staff member has tested positive for the Coronavirus. Superintendent Shaver-Hood says, "all who have had close contact with the individual have been notified and will begin a self quarantine".
She also notes that Board of Health has been notified, and uses this opportunity to remind students to wear masks, socially distance, and wash your hands frequently. She says that the student body's health is of the upmost importance.
This positive case comes as Wareham was recently upgraded to a moderate risk town for the virus, and some local surrounding towns have been upgraded to high risk communities.
Superintendent Shaver-Hood says that the schools will follow all cleaning and sanitizing protocols to ensure the safety of students and staff.
This a developing story and will be updated when and if more information is given
