Top 5 Things To Do Before Summer Is Over

Let's be honest; COVID-19 kind of put dents in all of our summer plans BUT, this does not mean that your summer has to be a complete bust. We all deep down want to have the best summer ever, so here are 5 things you can do and places you can go to that will make your summer a lot better.

5. Go out for Ice Cream

There are so many Ice Cream places in the area, and in a time like this when it's important to support our local businesses, going to a local ice-cream shop is a perfect way to support your community. With places like Kool Kone, Perry's Last Stand, Nana's, and Guido's, it's easy to grab a cone of your favorite flavor (mine is strawberry) and beat the heat this summer.

4. Go to the beach

This may seem like a no brainer, but the beach is an all time classic to improve your summer. There's just something about going to the beach all day, swimming and tanning, maybe reading a book, that makes summer so much better. Whether you go with a group of friends, or your family, or even just by yourself, the beach is instrumental for your mental health. Beaches like Onset Beach, Swifts Beach, Little Harbor Beach, and Scusett Beach all in the area, are perfect beaches to spend the day at. And if you're looking for a little adventure, I recommend Mayflower Beach in Dennis, MA. Parking may be expensive, and it may be a long drive, but the crystal clear water and the smooth sand on the beach is to DIE for.

3. Go outdoor shopping

While you may not have known it, outdoor shopping venues have existed long before this virus. In fact, we have an entire outdoor mall right here in Wareham, called the Wareham Crossing. Even though you still will probably have to wear a mask, there are endless stores to shop at here. Also check out the Soft As A Grape warehouse sale, located at 328 Marion Road, they have a super great outdoor sale with tons of great deals on awesome clothes, and a selection of over 100 cute masks.

2. Try DoorDashing food

I am a huge fan of DoorDash. So much so that I pay $9.99 a month for the premium DashPass. In my multiple times using the app, I've only ever had one bad experience, and it was with the restaurant, not even with the delivery service or app. There is a decent sized selection of restaurants to pick from, all in the area. All types of food are available, delivery fees are low, and delivery times for me at least, have never been above an hour. I say DoorDash because I have only tried PostMates once and the food took forever to get here and was cold, and I've never tried GrubHub. What are your experiences with any of these apps? Let us know in the comments down below.

1. Take a day trip to The Vineyard

I feel like Martha's Vineyard is kind of like a hidden gem to many of us in Wareham. Some have been, but most have not. I in fact, despite being just a ferry ride away, have never visited the vineyard. BUT, that doesn't mean you can't. Take a half hour drive to Woods Hole, hop on a low-priced ferry ride that get's you to the vineyard in under an hour. And then, you're free to explore. Shops and beaches are all within walking distance of the port, or you can always Uber from place to place. I'm telling you, you HAVE to try it.
